Lesson 1
Read the directions below. This week we are going to practice performing different locomotor patterns. Today we will practicing hopping and skipping.
1. Practice these skills to the music video below. 2. Click the red button Kahoot! and complete the challenges. Hopping is similar to jumping but it is done on only ONE foot. Push off with your toes and bend your knee to lift into the air. Land softly on your toes and bend your knees when landing to absorb the impact. Arms at your side to balance. You can hop in place or move around. Skipping requires a step and a hop. Step forward with one foot and then hop on that foot. Step forward with the other foot and then hop on that foot. Continue to repeat the pattern. As you get better you can increase your speed or try it backwards! Safety
Wear sneakers and comfortable clothing. Make sure that you are walking only where you are allowed to be following your family rules.
Tips to Modify the Exercises Start slowly, step and then hop, repeating on both sides until you've got the pattern. By the end of these lessons students should be able to: Skip using a mature pattern. S1.E1.2 Participate actively in moderate aerobic activity. S3.E2 |
Lesson 2
Read the directions below. This week we are going to practice performing different locomotor patterns. Today we will practicing galloping and sliding.
1. Practice these skills with the videos below. 2. Watch the video of an obstacle course made by a PSS student. Create your own obstacle course. Make sure your obstacle course includes hopping, skipping, galloping and sliding. If you are able email a picture or video to [email protected]. Galloping requires a step and a slide. Step forward with one foot and then slide the other foot toward the heel of the front foot. Sliding requires a step and a slide. Step sideways with one foot and then slide the other foot beside the first foot.

Tips to Modify the Exercises If you have to be inside and/or the weather doesn't allow you to go out, make sure your indoor version is safe and follows your family rules.
