Third Grade Week 7 |
May 4 - 8
Lesson 1
Read the directions below. This week we begin jumping rope.
1. Review previous skills that you have not yet mastered. Jump Rope Skills #1 - How to size a rope, Single Jump, Double Jump, Easy Rocker, Jogger, Double Unders Jump Rope Skills #2 - Bird Feet, Forward and Backward Criss Cross 2. Watch the new video (Jump Rope Skills #3) made by Mrs. Gonzalez. Practice these new skills. (You have mastered a skill if on most attempts you can perform the skill 10 or more times in a row before an error occurs). Safety
Wear sneakers and comfortable clothing. Make sure that you exercise in a safe space with plenty of room to move. Follow your family home rules.
Tips to Modify the Exercises Turn the rope slower. Try jumping in a rocking pattern instead of two feet. Step over the rope instead of jumping. Use a heavier jump rope. Jump without a rope. By the end of these lessons students should be able to: Perform intermediate jump rope skills (e.g., a variety of tricks, running in and out of long rope) for both long and short ropes. (S1.E27.3) Participate actively in moderate aerobic activity. S3.E2 |
